Newborn Photography: Studio Portraits

Little Mr H was welcomed into the world during the holidays, and he’s just too cute for words!

I loved that he smiled at his dad when he grabbed his finger – such a precious moment.

His mom and dad love black and white photography, and so many of the images we captured during his newborn photography session were black and white…but we had a few color ones as well!

He was so serious and so alert…

And incredibly sweet and tiny in his mom’s hands.

His big sister joined us too, and this image of their tiny hands together was so touching.

But it resulted in one of my absolute favorite images of his teeny tiny newborn baby feet! Congratulations to mom and dad on such a cute little bundle of joy!

Studio Portraits: Little Miss M

Miss M joined us recently for a maternity session, and she was so absolutely precious that I just had to photograph her alone as well!

She was perfectly poised, and reminded me of a little ballerina!

I love how beautiful her blue eyes are! Kids portraits are so much fun … working with them to see their personalities shine, and their everyday moments captured is one of my biggest joys. Thank you, Miss M, for joining us for the maternity session…and your own mini-session as well! :)

Tanglewood Wedding Photography: Big Red Barn

Today we are sharing with you the final chapter of Mandy and Ryan’s Tanglewood wedding day story…their reception at the big red barn!

Tanglewood wedding big red barn

You might remember from the getting ready blog, the sweet moments and gifts blog, and the ceremony blog that Mandy and Ryan tied the knot near the Manor House on the lawn. They said “I do!” under the big oak tree, and Ryan surprised Mandy with a horse-drawn carriage.

Always the gentleman, Ryan helped Mandy into the carriage under the canopy of trees and sunlight.

They rode away toward the reception, waving to their guests with huge smiles!

Their bridal party was ready and waiting when they arrived at the barn, and it was time for their entrance and first dance.

I loved the detail of the lace on Mandy’s dress, and the bustle was so pretty.

Tanglewood wedding first dance

They continued their theme of flowers in mason jars through the reception, with arrangements dotting the tables.

Beverly’s of Midway outdid themselves (as always!) with gorgeous arrangements that were rich in color and depth.

They had fun with a DIY (do-it-yourself) project for the table in the entranceway – Mandy collected old frames and used wire to hang images of her and Ryan in the frames in this updated version of a collage.

It took the guests on a trip down memory lane as they looked at images of Mandy and Ryan from high school through college.

The twinkle lights decorating the posts gave a warm, welcoming glow to the reception in the big red barn.

And Ryan with his mother…

After their dances and dinner, guests were invited to snack on cake and cookies, from this elegant display. Their caterer, California Fresh, has a really unique business that donates profits to charitable foundations. It’s a really neat way to give back through something you already need for your wedding day!

They were a huge hit!

It was so much fun celebrating with them on their wedding day! Mandy and Ryan, congratulations on your beautiful wedding at Tanglewood!

Pet Photography: Kilo the Pit Bull

We were so blessed to recently photograph another surprise session for one of our clients!

Vanessa contacted us to set up a pet portrait session to surprise her boyfriend for Christmas, and we met the sweetest pit bull, Kilo!

He has a beautiful coat, and I just love how his ears perk up when you talk to him.

Although he’s pretty darn cute when he puts them all the way back and looks up at you with those eyes – it makes me think of Puss in Boots from Shrek!

I loved this one with him in the back of the truck, ready to ride!

And this one looks like he’s ready for the joy of pure freedom and wind in the face as you ride down the road!  Thank you, Vanessa, for sharing sweet Kilo with us. I can’t wait to photograph for you again!

Check out Kilo on the Humane Society of Davie County‘s wall of fame – he’ll be up there this week!

Humane Society of Davie County: Pet Photography

We’ve had so much fun working with the Humane Society of Davie County to photograph some of the pets that their volunteers and donors love! We’ve also had the chance to photograph some of the adoptable pets of the humane society.

Today, we wanted to share with you an image of Athena. She is the most beautiful Great Pyrenees. Athena found her mom through the Humane Society – she was adopted from the Davie County Humane Society into her forever home, and both she and her owner are so grateful. They are a great match and you can tell how much they love each other!

Tanglewood Wedding Photography: Ceremony Under the Oak Tree

We’ve shared Mandy and Ryan’s getting ready moments and pre-ceremony moments…and now it’s time to share the beautiful outdoor ceremony.

Beverly's of Midway Tanglewood Wedding Outdoor wedding

Beverly’s of Midway created the amazing row markers for their outdoor wedding. I loved the shape and the burst of color.

They were place in a simple Mason jar – perfect for the outdoor wedding and for an accent that didn’t overwhelm the floral design.

The groom shared a prayer with the pastor before the ceremony.

And the bagpiper greeted the guests with traditional music that highlighted their heritage. Since Ryan proposed on St Patrick’s Day, outside overlooking a beautiful landscape, it was only fitting that their wedding be held outdoors with nods to their heritage.

Ryan arranged a surprise for his bride on their wedding day…a white horse-drawn carriage for her to ride from the Manor House to the oak tree! It was incredibly thoughtful, and showed how much he cared about her and making their wedding day the fairy tale that she’d always dreamed of.

The look on her face when she saw it said it all!

Her dad helped her in the carriage, and off she went to meet her groom for their wedding ceremony.

Her family and guests were so excited to see her walk down the aisle.

Both Ryan’s mom and Mandy’s mom waited for their children, and looked beautiful seated in the front rows.

The carriage stopped, and Mandy stepped out to walk down the aisle with her father.

She joined her Prince Charming at the altar, and with lots of emotion and excitement, they were joined as husband and wife!

Tanglewood Wedding photography clemmons God's knot

They opted for a God’s knot unity ceremony instead of the traditional candle, and it looked so pretty on the shepherd’s hook.

Tanglewood Wedding photography clemmons God's knot

They truly tied the knot at Tanglewood under the old oak tree, as they weaved together the strands of the cords to symbolize the joining of their lives.

Congratulations, Mandy and Ryan!!
