Katie and Nathan’s engagement session at Tanglewood Park in Clemmons focused on natural, playful images that reflected them as a couple. It was really important to Katie and Nathan to highlight their relationship and yet not feel too posed or traditional. Their wedding day will be anything but traditional – from the first look that I’m so excited about, to their venue – but you’ll have to wait ’til then to hear more about that!
Since they’re not coffee drinkers (GASP – I didn’t know that was possible!) we decided on tea in the Rose Garden for a lifestyle engagement session that focused on something they love to do together and captured a sweet, serene moment for the couple.
And, of course, lots of laughter! Katie and Nathan are so playful, and I had a lot of fun joking around with them and laughing over silly things – like when I asked them to toast, and Nathan had no clue that I meant to tap their glasses together. Don’t worry, Katie, on the wedding day, we’ll make sure he’s got toasting down pat!
They snuggled away under a tree for part of their engagement portrait session at Tanglewood, and Katie braved the terrain with bare feet – which I loved for this close up detail image.
And their expressions here just make me think about how calming their relationship is. I love how they are so comfortable together, and the peace and serenity that comes through this photograph.
Then, just to make sure things stay light and playful…out like a burst of never-ending energy comes their family’s puppy! He wanted to make sure we didn’t think we could stay calm and serene forever…life brings lots of different energy with weddings, and I love engagement sessions that keep things whimsical and fun.
And romance is never far from my mind with engagement sessions…I love this one of Katie and Nathan looking out over the pond, resting on each other. I can see them on their fiftieth anniversary, returning to this same spot with grandchildren and showing them this image, remembering their love and the beginning of the rest of their lives.
